Adventure begins at the Blue Hole
Early in the morning, we set off in a jeep to the famous Blue Hole. This alone is a highlight, as it is here that Dahab’s life pulsates. But instead of jumping into the water ourselves, a completely different experience awaits us: the Bedouin camels are ready and waiting. Equipped with everything you need for a perfect day of diving, we set off – riding leisurely along the wild and romantic coast towards Ras Abu Galum for about an hour.
As the procession passes you by, all you can hear is the clatter of hooves, the sound of the sea and perhaps the faint jingle of a camel saddle. A moment of silence that leaves everyday life far behind.
Ras Abu Galum – Diving where the Red Sea is still wild
After the camel ride, you will reach a piece of paradise: Ras Abu Galum, a remote reef that only a few divers visit each year. Here, the Red Sea is as pristine as you could wish for. The visibility is magnificent, the reefs are intact, and with a little luck you may encounter turtles, eagle rays or even a whitetip reef shark.
Two dives are possible here – varied, unspoilt, simply spectacular. And between dives, the Bedouins serve a freshly cooked lunch in the open air: tea, water, soft drinks and a traditional meal – a real highlight of hospitality.
